Supplementary cash: Food firm serves hospice a boost

Rob George 21st May, 2020

STAFF at a county hospice are “thrilled” to benefit from a £2,000 donation made by a company based near Malvern.

St Richard’s Hospice was selected to receive the funding by staff at Cytoplan Limited, a food supplements company in Hanley Swan.

The donation was made possible by Cytoplan’s owners, The AIM Foundation, which has also supported other local charities caring for vulnerable people which have seen their fund-raising impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Amanda Williams, Chief Executive Officer at Cytoplan, said: “We have chosen to support St Richard’s Hospice because our staff feel it is a wonderful cause, which does an amazing job for local people.

“They also felt concerned the hospice might be seeing hardship at this time, as its shops have temporarily closed and fundraising events have been postponed.

“Whenever we ask the staff which charities they feel should be supported, St Richard’s is usually top of the list.

“Some of the staff have had personal experience, through family members, of the hospice’s care and kindness at the end of life. It is close to a lot of hearts in this area.”

The funding will support St Richard’s Hospice to continue caring for patients with a serious, progressive illness, and their loved ones, across the county.

Tricia Cavell, Fund-raising Director at St Richard’s, said: “We were absolutely thrilled to be chosen to receive such a generous donation, and are very grateful to staff at Cytoplan and The AIM Foundation.

“Our fund-raising income has been hit by the coronavirus, as we have had to postpone events and temporarily shut shops.

“But, backed by the wonderful help of our incredible community we are hopeful we will come through these difficult days together.”
