CREATIVE students at the University of Worcester are celebrating after their show Skelling was chosen to appear at a major drama festival.
Second-year drama students who make up the MTheatre touring company ‘Shenanigans’ will head to Hull for the prestigious Sunday Times National Student Drama Festival 2017 next month.
The festival takes place in 2017 city of culture Hull from April 8 to April 15 and Skelling is one of just 14 productions to be staged during the week.
The company will perform four times at the festival.
Skellig is Shenanigans’ first show together and has proved a great success.
Due to demand, Shen-anigans will present this beautiful, moving and magical story at their University of Worcester Drama Studio home on Monday (April 3) from 7.30pm.
Puppetry, storytelling and heartfelt acting are all blended together in this magical play.
What is the creature Michael has discovered in the ramshackle garage? Is it a tramp, an owl, an angel? When they carry it out into the light, their world will change forever.
The magic is unleashed!
It is a powerful reminder that the world is full of mysteries, some of which can be explained away and some of which remain unsolved.
David Almond’s eerie and magical story, published in 1998, became an instant classic, snatching the Whitbread Children’s Book Award from JK Rowling’s Harry Potter.
The mystery that is Skellig is a treat to be savoured by those, young and old, who enjoy theatrical magic.
Tickets for the Worcester show are £4 and available from www.eventbrite.co.uk
