STUDENTS from Tudor Grange Academy Worcester had their eyes opened to a range of careers within the creative industry at a taster event hosted by Severn Arts during Discover! Creative Careers Week.

As part of the nationwide scheme, Severn Arts opened its doors to students to come and find out more about the rich and varied roles within the creative industry.

Across the morning students heard about the experiences and highlights of Severn Arts chief executive and took part in a series of hands-on workshops.

Hartlebury-based Design Agency Creative Mouse introduced the year nine students to graphic design and branding and Mike Hamilton from the Real Music Video Company had the students shooting and taking part in media interviews.

Paul Withers from Music Tribe talked about his passion for electronics and his involvement in synthesizer development, artist Jaime Jackson from Saltroad invited contributions to his latest project ‘Women at Work’ and

Kevin Gwilliam from Severn Arts gave the students insight into the profession of an instrument technician by dismantling and reassembling a cornet.

Chris Dent, lead teacher of media studies at Tudor Grange Academy, said: “Our students had a fantastic time learning about the creative careers industry and the opportunities available they hadn’t considered.

“It was great to see them engage in the workshops put on by the Severn Arts team and creative arts industry specialists.”
