STORM BABET: Flooding causing disruption across city

Worcester Editorial 21st Oct, 2023   0

WORCESTER Racecourse has abandoned racing on Wednesday (October 25) after the course was flooded by the River Severn.

The city has again seen the river flood and cause disruption to roads and car parks following the deluge caused by Storm Babet

Worcester remains open for business but council chiefs have advised its car parks on Pitchcroft, Croft Road, Cattlemarket, Newport Street and Tybridge Street are all affected by flooding.

Shoppers have been advised to use the St Martin’s Gate multi-storey instead.

Hylton Road is closed as is Diglis Bridge as is the B4103 at Bransford.

Sabrina Bridge, Carrington Bridge and Worcester Bridge currently remain open as is Tybridge Street.

The sporting calendar has been severely hit with both Worcester City and Worcester Raiders FA Vase clashes postponed because of waterlogged pitches at Claines Lane and Sixways.

City will now play Sleaford Town next Saturday (October 28) while Raiders will try again against Whitchurch Alport on Tuesday (October 24)
