A TOP academic will deliver a thought-provoking lecture exploring the moral dilemmas of helping poorer countries at Worcester Cathedral.

Sir Paul Collier, Professor of economics and public policy at the University of Oxford, will deliver the sixth annual Worcester Lecture titled

‘Helping the Poorest Countries: Moral Dilemmas?’ on Tuesday (October 6).

The Worcester Lectures – hosted by the University of Worcester and Worcester Cathedral – are an annual contribution to the rich cultural life and heritage of Worcester, celebrating and further strengthening the links between the two institutions.

The lecture will focus on urbanisation and its economic and cultural impact on rural societies through extensive research and debate.

Sir Paul is currently advisor to the strategy and policy department of the International Monetary Fund, advisor to the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group, and a visiting Professor at The Paris Institute of Political Studies.

The event takes place from 6pm.
