Sherisha setting a fine example

A COUNTY mum was among the winners at the 2020 Single Mums Business Network Awards.

Sherisha Quintyne Richards has single-handedly developed Worcestershire Solo Warriors – a county-wide network for single parents and was honoured for her achievements with an award.

She was voted the winner of the ‘Gingerbread Group Leader of the Year’ and judges revealed her award was in recognition of giving so much time and energy to other single parents who need somewhere to turn.

The Worcestershire Solo Warriors was established in October 2019 and Sherisha now has more than 200 members, from all parts of the county, involved.

The Solo Warriors is a support group for local single parents living in the Worcestershire area. The group provides monthly child friendly support meetings.

The group’s aims are to dispel the myths about single parents; to prevent isolation; to support parents through their challenges and to help them continue to improve their lives.

For Sherisha, a qualified social worker, this award is the culmination of an amazing first 12 months which has seen the Solo Warriors grow beyond all expectations.

“I am so happy and honoured to receive this award, but it is important to add that I could not have achieved anything without the support of the wonderful women who have been backing me all the way. This award is for them!”
