MORE than a dozen game machines were raided and several thousands pounds in cash stolen after burglars targeted a city bingo hall.

The crooks smashed their way into Majestic Bingo Club in Derwent Close sometime between 10.30pm on Sunday (May 25) and 9am on Monday (May 26) by breaking a window above the door with a brick and then climbing in through it.

It appears they then levered up the shutters to the game machine area and forced their way into 15 game machines, stealing money from inside all of them.

Police also believe the thieves tried to break into a cash machine and the office in the building but failed.

A police spokesman said: “As of yet it is not clear how much money was taken by the thieves but we do believe several thousand pounds was stolen as a result of this break-in.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have information about this incident, especially anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Derwent Close area on Sunday night.”

“Anyone who believes they may have information about this burglary is asked to call police in South Worcestershire on 101, quoting incident number 146S 260514.

“Alternatively, please remember that Crimestoppers can also be called anonymously on 0800 555 111 if you’d rather leave information without identifying yourself.”
