ONE OF the city’s most popular sport sites is set to get a major revamp after receiving a grant of more than £10,000.
Worcester Community Trust has been awarded £10,518 from Barclays, which will go towards the refurbishment of Ronkswood Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA).
The money will contribute to new basketball hoops, repairs to the fencing, re-marking the court surface, a range of workshops and activities which focus on reducing anti-social behaviour and various sporting qualifications for the volunteers at the site.
Since 2007 the programme has donated grants totalling £61,000 to the centre.
Cheryl Feredy, youth and community service co-ordinator at the trust, said: “The young people of Ronkswood take great pride in their community and its members.
“Through this new funding we can put together a programme to ensure that sport is celebrated. The local young people will be trained to support others, sharing their passions and knowledge, and placing Ronkswood on the sporting map.”
