Richard Osman novels are the most borrowed books in Worcestershire libraries

RICHARD Osman has taken the crown in Worcestershire after his books were the most borrowed from libraries in 2023.

The writer and TV presenter was hailed the Most Popular Author for Worcestershire readers after all three of the most borrowed books were written by him.

His most popular books were The Man Who Died Twice followed by The Thursday Murder Club and The Bullet That Missed.

Better Off Dead by Lee Child & Andrew Child and Mothers and Daughters by Erica James rounded out the county’s top 5 Adult Fiction reads for 2023.

Councillor Marcus Hart, Cabinet Member for Communities at Worcestershire County Council, said:

“It is always interesting to look back and see which page-turners proved popular in the past 12 months.

“It has been great to see that the joy of reading has been there for so many people in Worcestershire.

“I would encourage anyone to visit their local library to see the many resources they have to offer. The magic of a good book is there for everyone.”

For the county’s younger readers, Liz Pichon had the most popular page-turners.

Spectacular School Trip (really…), Ten Tremendous Tales and Epic Adventure (kind of) were all in the top 5 of the Junior Fiction reads for this year.

Slime by David Walliams and Wrecking Ball by Jeff Kinney rounded out the top 5.

Roald Dahl also had three reads in the top 10; Esio Trot, The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me and George’s Marvellous Medicine.
