THE COUNTY’S top highways chief has praised the work of his staff who quickly repaired a sinkhole which emerged on a Worcester road.
The sinkhole originally opened up in Cole Hill, off Wyld’s Lane in Worcester, during carriageway resurfacing work last week.
Highways personnel began work to address the sinkhole almost immediately, with work to reinstate the sinkhole completed last Wednesday and the scheduled resurfacing completed a day later.
The resurfacing work was part of Worcestershire County Council’s £12million Driving Home programme.
Coun Alan Amos, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Highways, said: “Our Highways teams began work to address this sinkhole very quickly.
“The relevant repairs engineers were on site within two hours and did a very neat repair.
“Their repair work was really fantastic, and the scheduled resurfacing has already been completed.
“I’d like to say well done and thank you to our hard-working Highways teams for ensuring Worcestershire has the best highways network possible.”
