A BEVERE man has been jailed after pleading guilty to causing the death of 47-year-old Anthony Ryder by careless driving in December 2017.
Mark Treasure, 55 of Green Lane appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Monday (January 28) for sentencing.
The collision happened on the morning of 22 December 2017, when Treasure’s Fiat Doblo van was in collision with a cyclist on the A449 in Claines.
Mr Ryder, who was riding the bike, was pronounced dead at the scene. Treasure appeared at the same court on January 2 this year where he pleaded guilty to the offence.
He was given a four month custodial sentence, combined with a three year and two month driving ban.
PC Steven Eldredge from West Mercia Police said: “This was a tragic case to investigate, but I hope that the conclusion of the court case has given the family some form of closure.
“I would like to thank all the witnesses that came forward to assist us with our enquiries. The information they provided was crucial to the investigation.
“We are committed to improving road safety and prioritise fatal and serious injury road traffic collisions to ensure that every effort is made to bring offenders to justice.”
