Popular city bar to celebrate anniversary

MEMORIES are set to be shared at a popular city centre bar this weekend as it marks its 25th birthday.

Drummonds Bar, which is part of the Swan with Two Nicks on New Street, will be holding a number of events from Friday until Sunday (November 8 to 10) to celebrate the milestone.

Among those will include a special reunion on Saturday (November 9) from 7.30pm where organisers are hoping to attract people who have supported the venue over the years.

There will also be acoustic sets over the three days including Worcester Ukulele Band between 2pm and 4pm on Sunday as well as live music on Friday night.

Linda Griffin, who has been licensee at the venue for almost four decades, said she was looking forward to seeing people who attended the venue’s relaunch as Drummonds in 1988.

“We want people who have a connection to the place coming from as far as possible,” she said.

“The weekend is not exclusive for people who were here in 1989 and it would be great to see as many of those original people, who came in the 1980s and 1990s.”
