Poetry the inspiration for Holt church’s flower festival

SOME of the nation’s favourite poetry will provide the inspiration for a historic church’s flower festival.

Visitors to St Martin Church in Holt will be greeted by an explosion of colours at the ‘Poetry Please’ festival on Saturday June 28 and Sunday June 29.

Flower arrangers will be showcasing their talents through a variety of eye-catching floral displays all rooted in the theme of poetry.

Alongside plant stalls, visitors will also be able to tuck into delicious home-made cakes, cream teas and mini-ploughman’s lunches throughout the weekend.

The event has been organised by the Friends of St Martin’s Church Holt, in partnership with the church’s PCC, as part of on-going efforts to preserve an active future for the Grade I listed building.

Reverend Paul Wilcox, Chair of the Friends group, said: “This is a great opportunity to come and enjoy the contrasting colours and beauty of the flower displays against the backdrop of this stunning church, which is steeped in history.”

Visitors are asked to bring cash rather than cards to purchase refreshments or plants.
