THE 70TH anniversary of a Worcester housing estate was a real community affair.
The Dines Green residents marked the landmark occasion with an afternoon of entertainment, food, fundraising and activities for all ages on Saturday (September 28).
Dinesfest was an opportunity for residents to show off their talents and share their stories of the estate, where a development of new homes began seven decades ago in 1954.
Honeywell Primary School hosted the event, which was arranged by residents, schools, groups, and churches within the neighbourhood.
It was sponsored by Worcester City Council and county councillor Richard Udall.
Coun Udall said: “Dines Green has grown from a few houses built on farmland and market gardens in the fifties to the busy estate that it is now. Some families have been here from the start and are in their third or fourth generation here now, so I was looking forward to seeing many familiar faces and old friends at Dinesfest.”
And in addition to affordable entertainment including free face painting and inflatables, there were pony rides, tradestands, food and drink, football, bike stunts and Dines Green’s Got Talent at the event.
