DANCE, music, great flavours and more got residents in the mood for Eurovision in Worcester.
The Guildhall hosted a celebration of European cultures on Saturday May 17 – the same day as the Eurovision Song Contest final.
Euro-Worcester, organised by Worcester City Council, had something for everyone – from food tasting and heritage displays to crafts for children, language games, and live performances celebrating countries and cultures across the continent.
It follows the success of a similar event last year.
The Irish, Bulgarian, and Breton dance groups all returned from the 2024 event. Ukrainian school children performed traditional songs and dances, while opera singer Valerie Sherlock took to the stage with her choir.
House of Haby hosted a stall showcasing Italian yarns and a heartfelt display of photos and memories from Worcester’s own ‘Little Italy’.
Homemade Ukrainian dishes, handmade dolls, and aromatherapy oils were also available to sample and buy, and tasters were on offer from the popular Our Taste of Portugal cafe.
The Worcester Language Exchange and Twinning Association were on hand with interactive activities and cultural insights, and a mental health and welfare booth offered support and resources for children, families, and adults alike.
Meanwhile, the city council held a display about Worcester’s rich cultural history.
