OPERATION SCEPTRE: Day of action sees Worcester SNT act to keep communities safe from harm

Worcester Editorial 17th May, 2023   0

A DAY of action as part of Operation Sceptre saw Worcester Safer Neighbourhood Team act on concerns in the ongoing work to keep communities across the city safe from harm.

Following a briefing, the day began with assisting staff from Platform Housing in taking control of a property on Dent Close following reports of anti social behaviour in one of their properties.

The address has been recovered for the housing group and the locks changed.

Officers then moved on to Heenan court which has been identified as a hot spot for anti social behaviour.

A knife sweep was conducted to look for any secluded weapons with nothing located.

Officers searched a hedgerow and play area near the Shap Drive Community but again nothing untoward was found.

An intelligence led search of the alleyways to the rear of Blackpole Sainsbury’s following numerous reports of drug related activity and anti-social riding of mopeds and off-road bikes then took place.

The day of action concluded with officers being alerted to two suspicious females in the city centre who were suspected of removing security tags of clothes and threatening staff with screwdrivers.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: “All activity today is in relation to intelligence received from the public and we will continue to keep our communities safe from harm.”
