BURGLARY offences are falling in West Mercia according to the latest figures.
Burglaries of homes have fallen six per cent and of those of businesses and the like have dropped by seven per cent, both ahead of the national trend of a three per cent decrease.
The force has invested in a number of initiatives to protect homes and businesses including Smartwater technology, We Don’t Buy Crime Officers and other increased resources around business and rural crime.
These latest crime figures were released last month and cover the year ending March 2019.
Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion has also increased the number of officers on patrol and improved victim services.
Other crime types including vehicle crime, bicycle theft, criminal damage and drug offences have also shown a decrease in the most recent figures.
PCC Campion said: “I made a commitment to make our communities safer, and this is just one example of how this is being achieved.”

Former Redditch beat bobby and now West Mercia Police Deputy Chief Constable Amanda Blakeman said: “It is encouraging to see reductions in burglary, however that does not mean we are complacent and our efforts to reduce this even further continue.
