A BY-ELECTION in Nunnery following the death of long-time Labour stalwart Simon Cronin has been called.
Voters will be invited to go to the polls on Thursday, July 20 to elect a new councillor following the passing of Coun Cronin last month at the age of 64 following a short illness.
Despite his health, Coun Cronin fought the seat he had held since 2007 and won by 330 votes leading to a poignant speech from former colleague George Squires who gave his acceptance speech.
Following his death, a single red rose was placed in his spot in the council chamber at the first meeting of the new-look Worcester City Council.
The deadline for nominations is next Friday (June 23) with a list of candidates to be revealed by Worcester City Council in the week commencing June 26.
