SOME of Worcester’s great and good will be spending a night outdoors in a bid to raise raise money for Worcester’s homeless community
Andy Howarth, finance director at Fortis Living, will join more than 60 volunteers at Worcester Warriors Sixways stadium on Tuesday night.
The sleepout has been organised by national charity CEO Sleepout, which is also holding events across the UK to help in the fight against homelessness and poverty.
Since its launch in December 2013 more than 1,400 executives have slept out and raised an impressive £1.4million towards homeless causes.
“Through my work at Fortis I have seen the great work done by St Paul’s Hostel; we have always tried to give them as much support as possible,” Andy said.
“Whilst one night sleeping out may be a challenge for me, it’s nothing like the hardship suffered by homeless rough sleepers every day in every city across the UK. I’m aiming to raise more than £1,000, and any further support would be welcomed by the charities involved.”
The event will start at 8pm and include a welcome from Gus MacKay, chief executive officer of Worcester Warriors – who will also be taken part in the event along with a number of charities.
There will be a match on the pitch with a homeless team.

“I hope the event not only raises the profile of homelessness but allows the volunteers to gain a deeper understanding of the causation, plight and the innovate solutions to mitigate the impact.”
