ASPIRING actors and actresses across Worcester are invited to audition for the Swan Theatre Amateur Company’s (STAC) production of Chekhov’s Three Sisters, translated by Michael Frayn.

Auditions will be held tonight from 7.30pm in the Vesta Tilley Studio at the Swan.

Considered by many to be Anton Chekov’s finest work, Three Sisters is a snapshot of the life of Olga, Masha and Irina Prozorov as they struggle to find happiness and contentment in their lives.

Set in pre-revolutionary Russia, at the start of the twentieth century, the three sisters search for meaning in the modern world, yearning for a return to Moscow away from their boring provincial home.

Director Marc Dugmore said: “Plain Olga desires the love of a man; unhappily married Masha takes a secret lover and bright, lively Irina slips gradually into despair.

“What follows is a story of power struggles, adultery and class-war as a procession of guests, lovers and family lead to events that will change their lives and shape their destinies.”

The production takes place from February 21 to 24 next year.
