ANTI-SLAVERY campaigners hope fund-raising will be a piece of cake when they hold a coffee morning in support of victims of human trafficking on Saturday.

City centre shoppers can enjoy a cuppa and tuck into a mouth-watering choice of homemade cakes at the fund-raiser being hosted in St Helen’s Church on the High Street from 10am to midday.

The event has been organised by local supporters of Hope for Justice, a UK-based charity leading the fight against modern slavery while providing support to victims.

A TRIO of Worcester museums are opening their doors after hours to entertain the senses in celebration of the Museums at Night festival.




The Tudor House Museum, Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum and The Infirmary will open their doors after dark on Friday, when visitors will have their ears and eyes challenged through a range of arts, culture and heritage events.

Tudor House Museum’s ‘Hidden Spaces, Secret Places’ event will run from 7.30pm and costs £8. There will be a chance to explore the cellars and attics and discover the secret architecture hidden from daily view.


Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum will be open from 5.30pm to 8pm for visitors to enjoy live music, poetry, art and food and drink, whilst The Infirmary’s ‘Museum of Lies’ event will offer tours at 6.30pm, 7.30pm and 8.30pm with a twist, as visitors will have to work out fact from fiction to earn prizes.

A WARNDON pub will be reopening its doors after undergoing a complete refurbishment which has created 12 new jobs.

The Barn Owl, on Berkeley Way, will unveil its new refit on Friday after being closed for a fortnight.

Punters and diners will be able to enjoy its new interior which includes a fresh lick of paint, a redesign of the kitchen, new furniture and a refurbishment of the patio and garden area.

The Marston’s Inns and Taverns restaurant will also see 12 new faces joins its team of 30 employees.

Tom Carty, manager of the Barn Owl, said: “I’m really excited to see our customers’ reactions once the pub re-opens. We’ll still be offering the same menu and we’ll still be the same pub our customers know and love, just with an exciting and brand new look.”
