AN ARCHIVE drop-in service has been launched at Worcester library – making the county’s history more accessible than ever.
Worcestershire County Council’s Archive and Archaeology Service has launched the brand-new Archive Drop-in service as well as increasing its opening hours.
The Archive Service, located at The Hive in Worcester, is a treasure trove for both seasoned researchers and those new to exploring the county’s unique heritage.
From family historians to local history enthusiasts, visitors will now have greater access to expert guidance, services, and resources—all aimed at uncovering the fascinating stories of Worcestershire’s past.
To meet growing interest, the archive will now be open six days a week – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10am until 4pm, and Wednesday from 1.30pm until 7pm.
WCC’s communities spokesperson Coun Karen May said: “We invite everyone, whether you’re researching your family tree, uncovering local stories, or simply curious about Worcestershire’s rich heritage to take advantage of these extended hours and our new services. Drop in, explore the archives, and let us help you uncover the unique and fascinating stories that are waiting to be told.”
The new Archive Drop-in service will be open every Monday from 10am until 4pm. Visitors can stop by the self-service area of Explore the Past on Level 2 of The Hive. Archive staff will be available to provide personalised guidance, helping visitors navigate Worcestershire’s remarkable collections—whether it’s learning how to search online databases, exploring old maps, or understanding the historical context of documents.
