WEST WORCESTERSHIRE MP Dame Harriett Baldwin has met with National Grid to hear the steps taken to resolve a fault on the local network before Christmas that left homes in Malvern without power.
The MP was also briefed on future plans to improve the network in West Worcestershire, including work serving homes in Kempsey.
Dame Harriett said: “I met with the team responsible for fixing the major interruptions before Christmas and although it was a complicated situation, the local engineers were able to identify and remedy the supply issues.
“I am assured that a permanent fix has been executed but National Grid is looking at solutions to be rolled out this year to re-balance the network to eliminate the risk of future disruption.
“The confluence of busy shops and restaurants and the long dark nights threw up an issue on the old cabling which was identified and fixed.
“The company has assured me it has learned from this issue and is implementing plans to reduce network strain on the area in and around Church Street.
“Reliable power delivery is essential and I am hopeful that the company already has investment plans in place to prevent a repetition of this Christmas’s power cuts.”
