Worcester Editorial 15th May, 2017   0

THREE men have been sentenced to more than 12 years in prison by a judge at Hereford Crown Court.

After a five-day trial Troy Gayle, 23, of Boyd Grove, Birmingham; Michael Nelson, 24, of no fixed abode and Daniel Sheridan, 28, of Wyncliffe Road, Birmingham were found guilty of a burglary in Fernhill Heath, Worcester in July last year.

Gayle was sentenced to two years in prison for the burglary, plus eight months from a previous suspended sentence, four months for theft and 12 months for perverting the course of justice.

Sheridan was sentenced to four years in prison for the burglary and two months for a warrant which was issued in December for failing to appear at court.

Nelson was sentenced to four years in prison for the burglary and six months for a previous attempted burglary

Speaking after sentencing last Friday (May 12), Det Con David Foley, from Worcester CID, said: “This was a brazen, targetted burglary in the middle of the day but, thanks to the swift actions of a neighbour, we were able to arrest the offenders within half an hour.

“I am satisfied with the verdict reached by the jury at the end of the five-day trial and with today’s sentences,” he added.
