FANS of one of the Faithful City’s most famous products are being given a chance to own a unique piece of memorabilia.
Lea and Perrins Worcestershire Sauce has been bringing out the flavours in everything from cheese on toast to Bloody Mary cocktails for almost 200 years.
This year, for the first time, Lea and Perrins lovers in the city and beyond will be able to buy their very own personalised bottles of the world-famous Worcestershire Sauce.
Exactly 1,837 bottles will be available to personalise, celebrating the year 1837 when Lea and Perrins was first created, with Worcestershire Sauce fans able to change the word ‘Lea’ on the label to an approved name of their choice as part of the brand’s ‘Me and Perrins’ campaign.
But foodie fans will have to wait 18 months to get their hands on their very own special personalised bottle as every key ingredient of Lea and Perrins is matured in barrels to give it its unique and delicious flavour.
After ordering, purchasers will receive an official certificate featuring their personalised label design, perfect for gifting to Lea and Perrins lovers. The Worcester-based team will then keep eager fans updated via e-mail over the following 18 months on what’s happening with their very own Me and Perrins bottle.
Laura Guenault, spokesperson for Lea and Perrins, said: “We’re excited for Lea and Perrins fans up and down the country to be able to get their hands on a personalised bottle of one of the nation’s oldest sauces and kitchen cupboard staples.
“We hope by waiting 18 months, lovers of Worcestershire Sauce can get a real understanding of how their favourite sauce is made – with onions, anchovies and garlic maturing in barrels for 18 months in exactly the same way it’s been for the last 182 years.
“You might say it’s a bit like a fine whisky – well worth the wait!”
The personalised 150ml bottles of Lea and Perrins will be available to order for £1.69+ £4.81 postage and packaging.
