ASPIRING opera singers are being invited to see if they can hit the high notes with an Opera Worcester workshop being held at Perdiswell Young People’s Centre

Opera is one of the most demanding forms of singing and many of the current Opera Worcester chorus are not trained singers but have derived tremendous satisfaction from taking part in productions.

The workshop will take place next Saturday, May 12 from 10am to 4pm and chorus member Ali Ravenhall said aspiring members didn’t need to be able to read music to joing.

“It’s been an exciting challenge which I have loved. Opera Worcester has made me very welcome and have been really supportive in my journey to tackle opera,” she said.

Musical director Sue Black, said: “To do opera at its best, demands a robust vocal technique and a number of our principals have studied professionally.

“However, once mastered, it provides a basic singing technique that can enable singers to tackle almost anything.

“Developing good breathing and studies have shown singing in a group can contribute so much to general well-being and health.
