LANTERNS will illuminate the night sky during a hospice’s fund-raising walk at the National Trust’s Croome country park near Worcester.
St Richard’s Hospice will host its fifth 1.5-mile Lantern Walk at 4.30pm next Saturday (February 11).
Sofia Gunster, fund-raiser at St Richard’s, said: “This event is a firm favourite in our calendar as it’s a chance for our community to come together to walk in memory of their loved ones. But, you don’t have to walk in memory – it’s also a fantastic way to experience the beautiful grounds of Croome and enjoy the atmosphere on the evening.
“Last year’s Lantern Walk raised £8,097, after costs, towards our care for patients and their loved ones. This is a brilliant amount, and we ask those taking part this year to raise as much as they feel they can to help us continue to fund our services.”
Everyone taking part in the walk, and who are aged over five, will be given a lantern and LED candle to carry around the route.
LED wands will be provided for children aged under five.
The on-site café will be open during the evening selling hot drinks and light snacks. Guests can bring flasks with them to use in the café.
The Lantern Walk is sponsored by Russell Meers and Gill (Worcester) Ltd.
Karen Gill, director at the insurance brokers, said: “We are extremely honoured and it is a great pleasure to sponsor this event for St Richard’s Hospice.
“We appreciate, and so will many, the fantastic hard work and care given at the most difficult of times.
“It is important to continue raising money to ensure the work of the hospice can continue well into the future.
