RESIDENTS are being reminded that, while pharmacies are very useful in helping with medical enquiries, not all of them will be open for all of Christmas and new year.
On Christmas Day, the Turnpike House Medical Centre, Worcester, is open from 10am to 1pm, the Kitsons Pharmacy, Broad Street, Worcester, from 4pm to 8pm and the Claremont Pharmacy in Chruch Street, Malvern, is open from 10am to 4pm.
On Boxing Day in Worcester, Asda, Silver Street, is from 9am to 6pm, and Boots, High Street is open between 8am and 6pm. In Malvern, Boots, Enigma Retail Park, is open from 7am to 9pm and Morrisons, Roman Way is open between 10am and 4pm.
On bank holiday Tuesday (December 27), in Worcester, Asda, Silver Street, is open from 9am to 6pm and Boots, High Street, from 9am to 5pm.
And on bank holiday Monday (January 2), Asda, Silver Street, Worcester is available from 10am to 6pm. In Malvern both Boots – Church Street and Enigma Retail Park – are open – from 10am to 4pm and between 9am and 9pm respectively.
Dr Kiran Patel, medical director for NHS England (West Midlands) said: “Pharmacists offer expert, confidential advice and treatment for many minor health problems, particularly winter illnesses such as sore throats and runny noses.
“As most GP surgeries will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day we would also encourage patients to order any medication they need in plenty of time so they have a good supply during the festive period.”
