POLICE have launched a manhunt after a teenager was subjected to a terrifying knife point robbery on a canal towpath.

The 17-year-old victim was walking along the towpath of Lansdowne Road about 11.45pm on Saturday (June 21) when he was approached by a man coming from the direction of Lansdowne Park.

The man then grabbed the teenager’s t-shirt in his chest area and demanded money before pulling a knife out.

DC Cath Morgan said: “The offender has been described as white with a light tan and brown coloured hair, aged around 19 or 20 years old, six foot in height with a slim build. He was wearing dark clothing.

“Thankfully the victim has suffered just minor wounds. I want to speak to anyone who saw a man of this description or anybody who was acting suspiciously in this area of Worcester.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact West Mercia Police on 101. The victim had previously walked along Rainbow Hill and Westbury Street before turning onto the canal towpath.
