LONG-SERVING care worker Katherine Matthews has been honoured as best dementia care manager at the national Dementia Care awards.

Katherine, who manages Care UK’s Perry Manor in Worcester, was handed the award at the ceremony which aims to recognise those who have demonstrated excellence within their field of work.

The dedicated boss joined the home on Charles Hastings Way in 2017 and has 23 years of experience working in care.

Always going the extra mile to look after people, Katherine was honoured for ensuring support is available for everyone, from residents to team members and relatives.

“It’s an honour to be recognised in the national awards and it was incredibly exciting to accept my award on stage in front of many colleagues and friends,” she said.

“I’d like to say a huge thank-you to the team at Perry Manor for all of their hard work. I’m incredibly proud of the wonderful environment we have created for older people in Worcester, which wouldn’t have been possible without the support and dedication of our fantastic team.”

Daniel Turner Naylor, regional director at Care UK, said: “I’m delighted for Katherine, and the fantastic team she leads at Perry Manor.

“She thoroughly deserved to be recognised in these national awards, the energy and passion she shows in everything she does ensures residents receive the best possible care, while leading active and fulfilled lives,”
