Join in the Big Bible Study

Worcester Editorial 14th Sep, 2017   0

WORCESTER residents are being invited to take part in the annual ‘Big Bible Study’ at a Worcester church.

The Bishop of Worcester, Dr John Inge, will again come together with Bernard Longley, the Roman Catholic Archbishop for Birmingham and the Revd Alison Mackay, Heart of England Baptist Association Regional Minister on Saturday, September 30 at St George’s Roman Catholic Church.

The innovative event will look at scriptures in the Bible in interesting and challenging ways and each leader will give a short address or explanation of the chosen biblical texts, followed by meditation and group discussions.

Cathedral Canon, the Revd Dr Alvyn Pettersen, who is one of the event’s organisers, said: “In this 500th anniversary year of the reformation, when through the printing press, the Bible was made increasingly available to people in their native language, it’s particularly appropriate that we are refreshed through the study of the Bible.

“Whether you’re new to the Bible or have been studying it for years, there will definitely be an opportunity to learn something fresh and be inspired.”

Bishop John said: “As Christians, it’s important we come together to study the Bible and gain a greater understanding of God’s word. The Big Bible Study is a great way to do this with our colleagues from other Christian traditions and I’m delighted to be one of the leaders of this year’s event.”

The event runs from 10am to 1pm and costs £4 per person, which includes lunch.
