In the saddle to help dog charity

A WORCESTER business owner is getting set to saddle up for a 500-mile ride around the coast of northern Scotland in a bid to raise a paw-fect amount of cash for a UK dog charity.

Euan Rogers and pal Fergus Barne will get into gear on Monday (August 6) for the challenge which will see them pedal away from Inverness castle on a eight-day, 526 mile road trip with a difference to raise cash for the Pack Project UK.

The intrepid pair hope to return to historic landmark by August 14 to complete their fund-raising quest for the charity based in the UK which re-homes and supports stray dogs from Romania.

With some financial aid this charity are going to build another much needed dog shelter to look after and care for many more dogs and rehabilitate ready for their new homes.

And although the route around the northern most point of Scotland is thought to be one of the toughest to tackle on two wheels in the UK, the pair are relishing their charity challenge.

Euan, owner of Mobile-Clean, said: “I have little to no cycling experience of this distance however I figured I would challenge myself and raise money whilst I do it.

“So I asked my friend Fergus to come along. He is experienced in cycling and has done similar cycling distances and charitable events. So… Lets ride!

The 23-year-old teaches skiing and snowboarding in the winter months all over Austria and hopes this challenge will satisfy his thirst for adventure.

“A big thank you so far to all the donations we have received for the cycle and to all of our kind sponsors for backing us. The donations have been amazing.

Fergus, 20, is a self-confessed outdoor enthusiast and has previously completed a couple of long distance rides, such as Lands End to John O’Groats 2017 and even cycled the length of the River Rhine.

“I have known Euan for a few years now through skiing and both love and outdoor challenge. So here we go, we are cycling around Scotland!,” he said.
