MORE THAN 75,000 people descended on the Three Counties Showground last weekend for this year’s Malvern Autumn Show, writes Jessica Blissitt.

The 27th annual event included many spoils from this year’s harvest, including giant vegetables, the RHS Flower Show, and local produce as well as plenty of food and drink stalls.

The CANNA UK Giant Vegetables Championship broke eight new Guinness World Records including largest runner bean, tallest tomatillo plant, which towered an impressive 3.529m, heaviest cucumber, weighing in at 13.388kg, and longest broad bean which stretched to 43.1cm.

Book Signings were also available from Gardener’s World Arit Anderson, Adam Frost, and Bake Off’s John Whaite.

And Escape to the Country presenter, Nicki Chapman made an appearance with ‘Highlights of The Day’ every day from 10am.

This year saw the return of the World of Animals after its debut in 2022, featuring The Horseman of the Knight, Exmoor Pony musical rides, dog agility displays and Weston’s Cider Shire Horses – exclusively on Saturday.

Local producers sold high quality food and drink at The Boffy Artisan Food Market and the Great Taste Food and Drink Market, and Best Food trade Stand was awarded to Mookie’s Indian Street Food.

The festivities also included a ‘Festival of Perry’, the celebration of pear-fermented cider, and its Gin Village, supported by Ludlow Gin.

The Cider Garden returned, thanks to Weston Cider Mill, as a haven in the heart of the festival, and this year welcomed a new Black Pear Bistro on site.

Kate Dufton, the Malvern Autumn Show lead, said: “We’re really proud of the show this year and can’t wait to be back next autumn, bringing a whole host of features to visitors’ next year.”

Malvern Autumn Show is set to make its return on September 27, 2024.
