Healthy award is the recipe for success at cafe

Worcester Editorial 9th Feb, 2017   0

A WORCESTER cafe has served up success after scooping a Healthier Choices Food Award.

The Orchard Cafe at Worcester Countryside Centre was recognised by the awards scheme for offering a range of healthy and flexible food options, as well as using food grown or produced locally.

The scheme, run by Worcestershire Regulatory Services, is only open to cafes and restaurants which have either a four or five star food hygiene rating.

Owned by Guy and Nett Ward, the Orchard Cafe is known for serving locally sourced, fair-trade, homemade, seasonal and free-range food.

They also offer a wide range of fresh foods for adults and youngsters, as well as a wide ranging vegetarian menu.

Winning the award will also allow the owners to benefit from a range of additional business benefits such as nutritional analysis of recipes, discounted training for staff and networking and informative events.

Coun Lynn Denham, Cabinet Member for Sustainable Communities at Worcester City Council, said: “I would like to congratulate Guy and Nett at The Orchard Cafe on their Healthier Choices Food Award.

“Worcester families and visitors now know that after playing at the Countryside Centre or walking through the Woods, they can pop in and have a healthy snack or meal. This is an excellent addition to our ambition for a healthy active city.”
