THE NEW headteacher of a city secondary school has unveiled his vision to make it the best in the area.

Mark Pollard has taken up the position at Bishop Perowne CE College and said he intends to make the Merrimans Hill Road school ‘an exceptional learning environment that goes the extra mile’.

Along with the rest of the senior team, he said planned to develop a wide range of extra-curricular activities that can aid each individual student’s progress.

Mr Pollard and his team also plan to build positive relationships with parents and students to improve learning and conduct throughout the school.

He was previously the deputy headteacher at Wolverley CE Secondary School and said he was one of the key contributors in driving the significant changes to aid the recent excellent Local Authority review of the school.

“My own children are currently going through the local schooling system, so like parents of Bishop Perowne students, I have hopes and dreams for my children and a good education that will challenge and inspire them is one of them,” he added.

“There are fantastic students and staff here and I really want everyone at Bishop Perowne to feel proud to be a part of a successful, outstanding college.

“With the changes that we have planned I firmly believe this will happen,” he said.
