Have your say on new play area

Worcester Editorial 23rd Feb, 2017   0

PLANS have been unveiled for a new play area in Worcester and residents are being urged to have their say on the proposals.

The new play equipment, set to be built on part of the open space close to Laugherne Brook and Newbury Road, is being funded by Worcester City Council using £60,000 from their New Homes Bonus pot of cash.

Youngsters will be able to have a go on the swings, roundabouts, a climbing frame, slides and more at the new play area. Soft land surfaces will also be included, along with seating, fencing and a litter bin.

Residents are now being urged to voice their views on the plans which will then be fed into detailed proposals, before construction work gets underway sometime in the spring.

Coun Roger Berry, cabinet member responsible for play areas, said: “This new play area is great news for the children, parents and grandparents in the Oldbury Road area.

“We want to make sure we get it right, so I would urge residents to have their say on the plans we’ve drawn up.”

The consultation closes on Sunday, March 5.
