Have your say on future of culture in Worcester

Worcester Editorial 19th Sep, 2021   0

COUNCIL chiefs want to hear the views of local residents and stakeholders as it sets out to shape the support it gives Worcester’s cultural organisations, events and activities over the next five years.

The council is encouraging people of all ages to take part in a short survey to establish what types of cultural or heritage activities they engage with the most – whether it’s listening to a rock band, making art, going to the theatre or cinema, or visiting a historic site.

The survey also aims to establish if there are barriers to people not engaging with more culture – such as money, time or social reasons – and what they perceive to be the cultural priorities for the city in the years ahead.

“Culture is important for so many reasons – it brings communities together, contributes to jobs and prosperity and brings fun and more imagination into our lives,” said Coun Lucy Hodgson, Chair of Worcester City Council’s Place and Economic Development Committee.

“The results of this survey will help us to ensure the definition of ‘culture’ in Worcester is broad and inclusive and will help define some of the main priorities in terms of City Council support over the next five years.”

You can take part in the survey at: www.worcester.gov.uk/voiceit until September 27
