HAVE YOUR SAY - Help West Midlands Ambulance Service improve its service

WEST Midlands Ambulance Service is setting up a Patient Voice Group to ask the public for their views and help improve its services.

Director of Nursing, Caron Eyre, said: “We are looking for past patients to join us in discussing what went well and as importantly what didn’t and more importantly, why.

“The meetings will take place every quarter with three held virtually and one face to face. You don’t have to attend every group meeting; all we ask is that you take part in the discussions and give us your thoughts.

“We have already seen a number of changes introduced based on ideas that the public have come forward with. For example, we now have blue lighting in the ambulances which young children find soothing; we have introduced a new way of helping non-emergency patients who need a sling to leave their homes. We hope that will just be the start of many more ideas that will make a real difference.

“No idea is a silly one and you might be surprised that you are not alone in wondering if a small change would lead to a big improvement in how we care for you.

“This is not a replacement for our complaints and compliments service or the surveys we carry out from time to time; it’s a chance for people to come together, bounce ideas off each other and work with us to make real changes to our service.”
