Grand gesture as County gives heartfelt 'thank you' with lights

WHEN the nation comes together this evening to clap for carers and key workers, Worcestershire Highways will be showing their appreciation too.

All of the county’s Variable Message Signs, which are normally used to display key information, in use at sites across Worcestershire, will change between 7.30pm and 8.10pm to show the message ‘Thank You to All Key Workers’.

The thank you messages will also be shared along the county’s motorway network, thanks to colleagues at Highways West Midlands.

Jon Fraser, Worcestershire County Council Highways, said: “The Clap for Carers and Key Workers at 8pm has been a real highlight for everyone in these really testing times.

At Worcestershire Highways we are really keen to show our appreciation for the hard work and dedication of our key workers in any way we can, and I’m really pleased we’ve been able to make this happen ahead of tonight’s event.”

A spokesperson at Highways England, said: “Everyone at Highways England is incredibly grateful for everything the NHS, emergency services and other key workers are doing at this difficult time.”
