MORE than 400 residents across the county have already signed up to the annual 30 Days Wild challenge.
Worcestershire Wildlife Trust is challenging everybody, everywhere, to enjoy nature on their doorstep every day throughout June.
Meander along a riverbank, dance in a downpour, record a wild ringtone, meditate in a meadow or simply have your favourite tipple as the sun goes down while listening to the sounds of nature.
People can spend a few minutes or a few hours each day enjoying nature – how they do it is up to them.
Wendy Carter, from WFF, said: “We’re really excited about the return of 30 Days Wild. This is its third year and it’s getting more fun with more people each year. The impact of taking part in 30 Days Wild has been tracked by academics at the University of Derby and they’ve found that people who did something wild each day for a month felt happier, healthier and more connected to nature.
“People can take part in whatever they like – from walking barefoot in the park to feeding garden birds. Anyone who signs up will get a pack full of ideas, a phone app is available to download and we’ll be suggesting activities every day on Facebook and Twitter to help people on their 30 Days Wild journey.”
The University of Derby study found that even after two months, people were still feeling the benefits and their happiness continued to improve after 30 Days Wild ended, which illustrates its sustained impact.
