A SEA of Santas will dash around the River Severn this winter to raise funds for a Worcester-based hospice.
The annual St Richard’s Hospice Santa Dash takes place on Sunday, December 10 starting from South Quay
Participants can take on a 4K jog or 7.5K loop before crossing the finish line to claim a Santa Dash medal and festive treat.
Sofia Gunster, Events and Community Fund-raising Lead, said: “We can’t wait to see all our Santas lined-up and ready for a jolly jog this winter!
“This really is such a fun, family-friendly event which gets us all in the mood for the festive season.
“Not only that, but it’s an important fundraiser for our care which is provided free-of-charge to patients and their loved ones when they need us most.”
Last year, 291 people took part in the Santa Dash and raised, after costs, £8,803 for St Richard’s. The Santa Dash is sponsored by Spa Decorators.
Gary Rogers, Director at Spa Decorators, said: “Spa Decorators is proud to sponsor such a great event once again.
“We are really looking forward to seeing as many people there to raise as much money as we can for St Richard’s at such a wonderful time of year.”
Both routes begin at the fountains by South Quay with Christmas tunes, and a warm-up from dance instructor Ellie Hawkins.
The 4K course extends to the Diglis Bridge before heading back to South Quay along the opposite side of the river.
The longer trail takes runners across the fields of Bennetts Farms, and up to its farm café, Bennetts Willow Barn, in Lower Wick before heading back to finish at South Quay.
