Get online help to discover heritage

Worcester Editorial 8th Nov, 2021   0

ONLINE workshops this month will help people discover more about their family history and the history of their homes.

Expert staff will be on hand to share their knowledge through these workshops to help people explore their past.

Information will include which sources to use and what people can tell about their history of their family or a house.

Paul Hudson, outreach manager for Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service said: “We know family and house history are popular topics for research, but it can be hard to know where to begin or what sources mean.

“Our online workshops have been very popular in lockdown, and we are running some more to provide help and advice to those who are wanting to start or would like more help”.

Coun Matt Dormer, Worcestershire County Council’s cabinet member with responsibility for communities, said:

“Our award winning archives service offers a fantastic resource for the residents of Worcestershire to learn more about history.

“These workshops are a great opportunity to learn more about how the resources available can help you on your family history journey, whilst learning from people with a wealth of expertise in the area.”

The workshops are suitable for anyone looking to know more about how to use the sources available to them, and for those looking to start their journey to learning more about their history.

The events are organised by Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service and will be hosted online with the next ones taking place on the next two Thursdays.

At 10am on November 11 – Starting Family History part 1.

At 10am on November 18 – Starting Family History part 2.
