PUTTING the best interests of children first in football is the theme of an all-day conference being staged in Worcester next week.
Rebuilding the Belief 2 will be held at the CGM Media Centre – home of Chris Green Media – at Cadbury House, Blackpole East, next Friday (December 7), and will feature four speakers with vast knowledge of the game and discussions about the English football academy system.
Fulham FC academy operations manager Lee Hagger, Pete Lowe, former head of education and performance management at Manchester City and director of PlayersNet which offers young players, parents and coaches support and guidance (pictured), ex-Wolves star Mel Eves who co-founded the Sports Parents Association and National Children’s Football Alliance founder and chief executive Ernie Brennan will take to the stage.
Author, broadcaster and conference host Chris Green said: “Following the sell-out success of the first Rebuilding the Belief conference – taken from the title of the sequel to my book Every Boy’s Dream – England’s Football Future on the Line – I believe the time is right for another event.
“We’ll be focusing on the subject of welfare and exploring whether the game does enough for players and their families, not only when they join an academy but through preparation for life afterwards, whatever path they may take.
“Our speakers will discuss positive and proactive ways the game can put the best interests of children first from grassroots to professional club academies and beyond.”
