Firms asked to have say on the state of business

Worcester Editorial 19th May, 2021   0

BUSINESS owners in Worcester are being urged to air their thoughts and fears in the latest quarterly economic survey (QES) from Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce.

The QES offers the most up to date and readily available local economic report providing a snapshot of the region’s business environment.

The Chamber’s QES for quarter 2 is now open and is looking to hear businesses’ top concerns and any barriers to growth.

The data will then be used to create a report which will establish trends in behaviours, monitor results and address concerns.

This can then be used by organisations such as HM Treasury, the Bank of England and the Office for Budgetary Responsibility to influence policy making and shape business support.

Previous QES statistics have led to lobbying of MPs at local and national level which allows local business concerns to influence government policy and funding for local businesses.

This quarter, the survey has a spotlight on international trade and will look to reveal a clearer picture of the impact coronavirus has had on businesses, as well as the adjustment to new international trading laws stemming from Brexit.

The Quarter 1 2021 report showed positive steps as 30 per cent of businesses were looking to recruit in the subsequent three months in sectors such as manufacturing, technology, financial services, and engineering.

The Chamber wants to know how the crisis has impacted investment plans, sales, orders, and recruitment over the last three months.

By taking part businesses will be entered into a prize draw to win four Westons Cider Factory tickets for a tour and tasting with two-course lunch
