Firm steps in with playhouse gesture

Worcester Editorial 9th May, 2019   0

A WORCESTER building firm boss has stepped in to help a Droitwich pre-school which had its much-loved playhouse stolen by offering a tailor-made replacement.

Dan Cox from D&J Timber Buildings, based on the Shrub Hill Industrial Estate, saw press reports about the theft at St Peter’s Pre-School which had left staff and children devastated.

The incident happened over the Easter holidays, along with the vandalism of the garden at Droitwich’s St Peter’s Church where the pre-school is based.

Dan told the Observer: “When I saw what had happened I just had to help.

“To have anything stolen is devastating but when children are involved it’s much worse.

“The pre-school is a charity and it would have taken them ages to raise the funds to replace it and as we are in a position to help, it seemed like the perfect solution.”

The children loved being in the playhouse which had been the centrepiece of the garden for more than nine years.

“When I spoke to the staff and went down to see them they were over the moon – so grateful.”
