A MAJOR festival to encourage older residents to remain active in their communities is set to return to Worcester.
The sixth Active Age Festival will offer activities and opportunities to stay active, reduce potential feelings of loneliness and isolation, stimulate the mind and reduce the risk of various age-related health conditions.
It is well known that keeping active has no end of health benefits, but as people get older the amount of activity they do decreases.
Visitors to the event next Saturday will be able to speak to trained activity leaders and other expert organisations to address and worries or concerns and meet clubs, groups and organisations who welcome the over-50s to their activity, with no upper age limits
The free day will also be packed with fun and exciting activities, demonstrations and entertainment.
Organisers hope the event will allow city residents to revisit an activity they used to enjoy or sample something new.
A host of events are on offer including exercise classes, line dancing, zumba gold, indoor archery, indoor golf, short mat bowls, stone painting and holistic therapies.
Family and friends are also invited to the event with refreshments and lunch served throughout.
Organised jointly by Age UK Herefordshire and Worcestershire, University of Worcester Sports Department, Sports Partnership Herefordshire and Worcestershire and Worcester U3A, the Active Age Festival will be taking place from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, June 10.
The event will be held at the University of Worcester Riverside Centre on Hylton Road.
