SOME of the area’s brightest up and coming musicians were showcased as a popular festival returned to the city.

Hundreds of people attended the second SevernSounds Festival which ran for three days from Saturday to Monday (May 24 to 26).

The event, held at Pavillion in the Park, raised about a thousand pounds which will be split between two charities – St Richard’s Hospice and New Hope.

Notable acts included Jasper in the Company of Others, Time of the Mouth, Done By Sunrise, Abby Inez, Ben Stancombe, Lauren Wright while the thirsty crowds also enjoyed a well stocked beer festival and raffle.

Scott Howland, who helped organise the festival, said: “The event was a huge success, was really busy and bigger and better than last year which was amazing.

“All the acts that played were incredible and Pavilion in the Park a very helpful host.

“We have got to wait for the buckets to be counted but I think it’ll be just shy of £1,000.

“It was a really fun weekend for all involved.”
