ORGANISERS working in partnership with Bike Worcester have revealed the Kidical Mass on Sunday (May 7) could be a record-breaker.
Kidical Mass is a bike ride designed for all ages and abilities, enabling families with children to cycle, wheel or scoot safely, even on a balance bike, with stabilisers or sitting in a child seat or trailer.
Everyone is welcome. Kidical Mass will start from Cafe Viaduct, opposite the Hive, right next to the River Severn, at 12midday, with a short cycle ride to Pitchcroft, finishing at Worcester Community Gardens on the racecourse for their Eco Fair.
At the end of the bike ride, children and families are invited to play games.
Katie Mace enjoys cycling to Kidical Mass with children Henry, age 10, and Laurie age 6.
She said: “It’s such a family friendly event. My kids love coming along and playing fantastic games with children of all ages. They have made friends with other children who come regularly and look forward to catching up.”
Kidical Mass is a worldwide movement and events have been taking place in Worcester since Summer 2022, with about 100 people coming along each time.
Organisers Rob and Kate Collier are expecting a record turnout this weekend’s event as it’s part of the Kidical Mass weekend of action, with cities all over the world riding to celebrate cycling.
Groups are calling on Governments to invest in proper safe cycling infrastructure to make cycling easier and more pleasant for all cyclists, including children.
Ian and his family moved to Worcester last year and said: “Kidical Mass has given us and our children a really fun way to explore the city on our bikes, finding nice routes and building everyone’s confidence on their bikes. Josephine, age four, loves the games and the hot chocolate at the end, and Mathilde, six months,, mainly sleeps in our cargo bike!”
