TWO members of a drama group in Worcester have braved the shave in preparation for their next production.
Jonathan Stevens and Brendan Meaklim, members of Worcester Operatic & Dramatic Society, had their long locks chopped at The Saracens Head on The Tything ready for their roles as American marines in the Second World War production ‘South Pacific’.
The duo have raised £500 for Macmillan so far and have donated their hair to The Little Princess Trust, a charity dedicated to providing specialist real hair children’s wigs.
28-year-old Jonathan, said: “My hair was down to my neck so I though I may as well go for it and raise money for charity.
“We made a day of it at the pub and asked people to come along and donate what they can. I am excited for the production and we are only a few weeks away are working on it every chance we get.”
‘South Pacific’ is being directed by Sarah Gilhooly, who played the lead role of Nellie in the society’s 2000 production.
Bruce Wyatt publicity officer for WODS said: “Brendan and Jonathan were both pleased to take the opportunity to raise funds for the charities, whilst getting ready to take the part of marines in the forthcoming production of South Pacific”.
Tickets are still available for most performances between Tuesday (October 18) and Saturday (October 22) via the Swan Theatre box office on 01905 611427.
