Digging deep for St Richard’s

Worcester Editorial 14th Dec, 2019   0

A CITY hospice has been decorated with extra sparkle this Christmas thanks to a kind donation from a county garden centre.

Festive garlands are up, baubles are shining and five magnificent Christmas trees are standing proud around St Richard’s Hospice in Worcester.

The trees have been donated by Webbs Garden Centres in Wychbold and are in place outside the hospice, in reception, on the In-patient Unit and in the Living Well Centre for patients and their loved ones to enjoy.

Ed Webb, chairman and owner of Webbs, said: “It is our pleasure to donate Christmas trees for the enjoyment of the patients and their families receiving support from St Richard’s Hospice at this time of year.

“The team at the hospice work tirelessly to improve the lives of people in the communities around us, and we hope this contribution brings a little joy and delight over the festive period.”

Over the past week, patients attending a therapeutic day at the hospice’s Living Well Centre have enjoyed parties – which include festive crafts and a Christmas lunch.

Hospice chief executive June Patel, said: “Christmas is such an important time for everyone here at the hospice.

“We know it can be an especially difficult and emotional time for many of those who we care for, so we work our hardest to ensure the festive season is as joyful and homely as possible.

“The building looks so festive, thanks to the work of our volunteers and staff. We are so very grateful to Webbs for donating such beautiful trees – they really bring Christmas cheer to the hospice.”

The hospice, based in Wildwood Drive, is also set to host the final event in its Lights of Love campaign – a carols evening next Thursday (December 19) from 7pm.
